Create Routines and Keep Your Home Organized

1. Dedicate 15 minutes each day to "tidying up"

We're not talking about deep cleaning here. Rather, it's about putting things back in their place. Take some time in the evening to tidy up everything you've used during the day. Put your clothes in the laundry hamper, put the dishes in the dishwasher, wipe down the kitchen counter, and straighten up the living room. These 15 minutes in the evening will save you a lot of work in the morning and make it much easier to get out of bed.

2. Declutter regularly

Get rid of things you don't need or use. Regular decluttering will help you free up space and prevent clutter from accumulating. Put a reminder in your calendar, for example, 4 times a year. You can donate, sell, or recycle things you no longer need.

3. Involve the whole family

Keeping the house tidy should be a team effort. Involve all family members in cleaning and maintenance. Even small children can help with simple tasks like tidying up toys or folding clothes.

4. Utilize Music and a Timer
If you're starting a new routine, it may take some time to adjust (in most cases, around 30 days). Music can help you in the beginning. Music can make cleaning more fun and motivating.

A timer can also be helpful. Set a timer for a few minutes according to your options and needs. Some people work better under a certain time pressure. Try setting a timer for 15 minutes and see how much you can get done.

5. Consider Your Existing Routines
When creating new routines, the goal is not to overhaul everything you're used to. Build on the routines that are currently working for you to make it easier. For example, combine brushing your teeth at night with the 15 minutes of "tidying up" mentioned in point one.

Everyone is different, and some things are easier for some people than others. However, everyone can create routines. Try to create your own routine that fits your schedule and current routines. Don't worry, it may take a few tries, but that's natural!
